Today we introduce you to Perkal, a clothing brand that promotes ethical and sustainable fashion reducing environmental impact by following a social commitment.
Aware of the problem of fast fashion And of all the detriments that are produced to the planet because of fashion, in Perkal they decided to do their part in the process and try to contribute their bit.
Neither Perkal, nor us, nor our workshop is perfect -although our designs are- but we are to add, not to subtract, to build, not to destroy, and they try to translate it into their entire process and we love to take care of every little detail. - Team Perkal
From cotton to organic cotton!
It was one of the first changes they made early in their adventure. They firmly believed that sustainability is not a fad, but something necessary. "If you watch your diet, why not take care of your skin." Organic fabric has many benefits and that is why Perkal decided to opt for it:
- It does not carry toxic substances such as: herbicides, insecticides and other chemicals and only natural fertilizers can be used. This allows them to avoid skin allergies and ensure that groundwater, land and air are not contaminated.
- Fabrics degrade naturally over time and do not release toxins as they are not synthetic fibers.
In Perkal they carry out all the stamping part, from the preparation of the design until it reaches the customer's hands. And what do they like the most? Get your hands dirty with paint!

A stamping process with ecological paint
They tell us that to stamp they use water-based screen printing paints, called acramines, considered the most ecological paints on the market: they are the ones with the least chemicals and PVC. Besides, these paints do not leave a hard feeling to the touch as they infiltrate the cotton fibers.
Use of organic products
All the products they use are organic, accredited with GOTS, FAIR WEAR, VEGAN certificates. These certificates are issued by official commercial agencies that are spread all over the world.
Plantable Seed Paper Labels
No one is left indifferent by its plantable seed paper label. Respectful with the environment, made with cotton fibers and vegetable-based inks. If the tag is planted, in 10 days you see the white clover germinate.
Sustainable packaging
They use 100% plastic free packaging, totally sustainable. Their boxes are made of recycled cardboard and stamped by themselves with acramines.
Zero waste "office"
They tell us that their workshop has dampness because it is a ground floor and a basement. The downside is that you have to ventilate and use a dehumidifier. And the good? That it is cool in summer, that they do not use tap water and that they recycle the water from the dehumidifier to clean the frames and paint. They don't even touch the tap! Another good thing about the dehumidifier is that it draws out hot air which is perfect in winter, apart from being warm they use it to dry the paintings on their t-shirts and for the emulsion of the racks.
